Resources

Here you can find some commonly used resources for the Brooklyn RE Market:

Free Resources: No Accounts required

City:

  1.  Oasis Maps

This resource will give you an overview on any property in the city. You can search by block and lot, zip code, neighborhood, or address. It provides information like size of lot and building, ownership , zoning, and quick links to other city websites that will also have important information. Below is a screenshot to show an example of the websites features.

The left hand map showing the location of the property, and provides easy access to other properties. Just press on the property you are interested in seeing and it will provide further information.

To the right is an information bar showing the Location Report. There are other tabs showing useful information as well but the feature I use the most is the Location Report.

2. Department of Buildings

This is the NYC website for the Department of Buildings.

This website has a few great features that any homebuyer/homeowner should be aware of.  You will get important information regarding the status of your property, complaints that have been filed, violations current or past, access to the Certificate of Occupancy and more. Wether you are considering buying a property or already own one, the DOB website will show you plans and permits that have been filed or approved. This is very important if you are considering purchasing a property with new renovations. You will want to make sure that everything has been done to code.
